Principal Robert Schmidt is a generalist in acoustics providing consulting services since 1981 for all building types and all levels of complexity and sophistication.
He has been responsible for the acoustical design for projects and clients including the University of California and California State University systems, Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Disneyland, Universal Studios, healthcare and research facilities, IMAX/Omnimax theatres, performing arts centers, major transportation projects, and media and post production facilities.
As principal consultant, Robert’s responsibilities include acoustical design, documentation and construction administration for room acoustics and noise and vibration control of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for all projects. Environmental acoustical work includes airport, highway and community noise studies, and review and preparation of governmental noise regulations and policies. He has extensive experience in all areas of acoustical testing and product research and development.
He integrates a high level of familiarity with practical construction issues along with a background in engineering, architecture and music, while maintaining a strong eye for design sensitivity. Mr. Schmidt brings a distinctive experience of science and design to projects and as a practicing amateur musician and luthier, and his art work has been displayed in multiple galleries from California to Wyoming.
General/Personal Statement
RS Acoustics Inc. located in the northern part of Los Angeles County, was established in 2004 to provide consulting services in all areas of building acoustics on projects ranging from entertainment and performance spaces, transportation facilities, government facilities, to luxury residences and condominiums. To date, we have been blessed with wonderful clients and over 500 challenging projects.
The general character of the office is that it’s natural for people to want to work together with other positive like-minded people and achieve a common goal. We’ve found that relationships with clients which are also to some degree personal are far more satisfying and rewarding. Providing our clients with more than what is expected occurs automatically, without thought or effort.
The most enjoyable part of our work is creating and devising unique and practical solutions for architectural and acoustical challenges. A long time immersion in engineering, music, and construction has been very helpful, allowing us to be fully aware that designing it…is far different than building it.
